Shipping engine, transmission, etc... any really GOOD ideas? *searched*
Honda Tech,
I'll be shipping out my B18C5, JDM tranny, Fluidyne radiator, Injen Intake, axles, and shift linkage all at once over about 1500 miles... do any of you have good ideas on how to ship this all?
Different options I've heard of:
1. Use a wooden pallet, place all your stuff on it and build a "box" around it while securing everything inside.
2. Use large plastic tubs, place the items in them and secure them with some sort of packing material and/or expandable styrofoam, and ziptie the lids (if i did this, i guess i would need to place it all on a pallet to be shipped)
3. Build a wooden crate around the engine (since i've got quite a few things to ship, i don't know how feasible this would be)
4. Use a wooden pallet and use some sort of industrial "packing gun" of some sort to secure the items on the pallet
right now, i think i'll be going with option 1. any bright ideas?

I had a motorcycle motor shipped. It was on a wooden pallet, and it had a box around it and it was all wraped up tight. I traveled 1300 miles and i had no problems at all with it, it even had the header still attached and that was in good condition.
So
for wooden pallet
So
for wooden pallet
Also i forgot to add it was tied down by tow-ties. Not sure the exact name for them but the type you use to tie down motorcycles and whatnot to the bed of trailers and trucks. I would put a cheap set of them on or at least strap the hell out of it down with something.
