rough idiling and black white smoke

rough idiling and black white smoke
every once in a while when i start my 92 civic it will idile rough and at the same time a lot of smoke will come out of the exhast. does this sound like the electronic air controll valve and if so how do i replace it. is there a web sight where i can download manuals, please advise
