Default I'm crossing over

After being a long time VW owner it's time to cross over to the dark side.
The wife wants to see something different in the garage so I'm on the lookout for a civic.
Anyway just wanted to drop in and introduce myself.

Welcome to H-T. I hope you enjoy your stay even with all the flaming that is about to ensue. BTW... get a 92-95, they are cheap and sexy, kinda like a hooker without the disease.

yeah I'm well aware of the love/hate between VW and Honda owners. That's why I figured I'd get out the way in the intro. My neighbor was actually the one to convince me to make the switch, he has a 90 civic with i think a b18 swap. I wasn't part of the swap process but his car has been in my garage enough times that I'm learning more about it. If I go with a Civic it has to be a 2000 or better cause it is our second ride and that is what the boss wants. But if I can get a BMW as a second car then I can get rid of my 3rd car which is a 944. So if I can swing the BMW and sell the Jetta and 944 I can pretty much get whatever I want be it a shell or a running car of any year.

Hello New User, Welcome to Honda-Tech

There is a wealth of information here on this forum just waiting for you to discover.

Whether you joined to get some help with a problem on your Honda, wanted to see other peoples cars and get ideas for your own, wanted to buy some parts, or maybe you just own a Honda and wanted to join the club, a good place to start is with a good >>>>>SEARCH<<<<<< . You will notice the red SEARCH button on the top right hand side of the screen. You can search to see if someone has had a similiar problem, or has a similiar post to what you wanted to make.

The first screen you come to has a long list of different sections you can choose from, each having there own reason.

The first list you will see are Model Specific TECH forums. These are forums for general TECH related questions and post about SPECIFIC MODELS. A suspension question is not MODEL specific, as all cars have it, so that might be better suited in the Suspension forum. You get the idea. Before you post a question, SEARCH to see if it has been covered before, because it probably has.

The next list you will see are more Technical Forums, except this time instead of car/model specific, it is topic specific, IE All motor, FI (forced induction), Suspension, Drag racing, AutoX, etc. Your questions about these matters go in the designated forum.

The next place you will see the Marketplace. Come on, do you need an explaination about this? Buy or sell your parts here.

The next section is labeled Honda-Tech Forums. You will find the Appearance and Cosmetic section. This section is good for when you want to show off your car and get feedback on what you have done. Or if you have questions about something to do with appearance in general, this is your forum. The other sections here are the Events and Meets section, where you can find out what is going on in your area, or announce something of your own. And then there is Kills. Tell stories of who you raced and what happened here. Enter at your own risk.

And then there is GDD- General discussion and debate. This is basically the Off-topic forums of Honda-Tech. You can explore these for yourself.

There you go, I hope that you read this and understand the layout of this website.

Again, Welcome to HT.

Hey man, I'll be perfectly honest with you, I love Hondas a lot more than I love dubs, but if you try to replace a MKIV or MKV that you have in the garage with a 92-00 civic you're GONNA be sleeping outside.

Unless it's an older II or III dub, then it's justified. Though in terms of luxury obviously they have the 5th and 6th generation (92-00) honda *** raped).

Nah I got a MkIII Jetta which is basically my train car. We had the MIV Jetta 1.8T but gave it up for a Pacifica cause the kids were cramped in the back. The more I look I'm thinking a 2 door coupe or maybe an integra might be the way I'm leaning towards.
either way if I get the BMW she wont care what I get.

Hey, I'm not trying to be a prying ******** or anything but if they couldn't fit in an MKIV Jetta 1.8T what makes you think it's going to be a better fit in a 'teg or civic coupe?

See I have 2 MKIV dubs as well as a civic coupe and as tight a fit as it is in the back of the Jetta, or the GTI, it's still tighter in the back of the civic.

Might wanna look for something like an LS 4 door or a 4 door EX. My friend's got one, an auto LS isn't my thing but it wasn't horrible in the back, civic is a tighter fit IMO even though I do believe they use the same chassis.

If you've got kids, might look into an Accord. Much more room.

Ah, that was a much better idea than mine. I forgot about the accords, my g/f's mom I think has one...think it's a V6. I remember it b/c I remember saying "wow, that rear end totally got stolen from the the NSX." (yes, yes, send me PM's about how it's the same company, I know). Anyway, it was very roomy, and she was annoyed so she was kinda nailing it and it had some pickup .

I would want to recommend an accord over a civic as they're much more of a family car - but I can't say I know truthfully about how reliable they are or any other data about 'em .

Nooo you guys got it all wrong!
Here is the deal I have a Pacifica a Jetta and a 944
Keep the Pacifica
Ditch the 96 Jetta for a 2000 or better anything, but if I get the a Bimmer I can get rid of the 944. and if I can get rid of the 944 I'm getting anything I want running or not. So space isn't an issue cause I have the Pacifica for that.

Or better yet get a 4 door teg GSR. I think the actuals only came JDM but a 4 door teg setup as gsr is straight sex.

But since you really don't need the extra doors. I would get the 00 si coupe or find a clean as EK if you want something new.
If emissions aren't a big deal you can always step up from obd2 to obd1 and find yourself better tunning options.

Honestly though if you have a beamer and a porsche it sounds as if life is tough. Why not just get a Supra or RX-7 or 300zx or something more big boy class?????

Just a thought.
