Turn Key, Nothing for 5 sec., Then starts.
It's pretty cold here in PA, so maybe that has something to do with it, but lately when i get in and try to start my car, i turn the key completely and not a thing happens, no starting noise, nothing. Then after having the key held for like 5 seconds, it cranks and starts like nothing happened. Any ideas? I even tried leaving the key in acc. for a few seconds to get the fuel pump going, thinking that might help a little, but no difference. Only has been happening every three or four tries from dead cold. It's a 98 base 5pd.
Main relay?
I was having similar problems with my lude a while back.

the relay is located down by the left kick panel up on the wall. they say its somewhat hard to get to. I hope this works. or helps

there is a FSB about this in the 5th gen
What all do you have on your keychain?
Have yo had the Factory Ignition recall done?
There is a sensor in your key that is part of your immobilizer. Make sure nothing but the key and maybe your chain fob for your alarm/keyless entry is the only thing there. Mine did this for the longest time and I had it taken into honda thinking the Recall hasnt been done....there is a bulletin about it.
But like said above it may be your Main Relay....probably not, but it still is an option.
When you try to start, look for the blue key display in your gauge cluster on the right hand side. Tell us what it is doing while you try to start the car and it does not start

on my keychain i have just house keys and such, no electronics of any kind. The recall was fixed by the previous owner. Next time it does it, i'll take a look at the dash and tell you if anything is happening. Other than that, it is as if i'm not even turning the key when i turn it. Doesn't crank, nothing of the sort. But like i said, after holding the key in the start position for like 4-5 seconds it starts up like normal, as if i had just turned the key.

it could quite possibly be your ignition switch. i know saturn ion's have a sever problem with their ignition switches failing when it's cold. at first they wont start at all, then let em warm up and they'll usually start. so i'd check that out for sure.
