Loppy start up in cold.........
Has anyone had this problem. 00 civic sohc. When my car has sat outside in the cold (30's or 40's in cali) all nite & I get up in the early morning so its still fairly cold out it starts up like st*t. It will have a low loppy idle (200 - 500). If you hit the gas it does nothing. You can hear the intake sucking like carzy. It sounds like its staving for gas. This will happen for bout 3-5 mins. Finally the idle will shoot up & everything will be normal. If I plug my scanner to the car it pulls a 1399 code saying ignition manfunction. I've changed everything on the ignition system but still have this problem. Anyone have any clue. I was also thinking that he coolant sensor (in the head that cools the efi) could be bad & causing this fuel to run shitty.
Try checking out the normal stuff...like fuel filter, plugs, cap and rotor. It might be your idle air control valve...may be clogged.
I've changed cap, rotor, plugs, wires, o2's, ign. module, coil, cleaned & changed iac valve, fuel filter. Nothing worked still same thing.
check all your ground wires ,could be grounding something out, or not getting proper ground. your 02 heater controls might not be turning on when the car is cold, they cycle on and off, so it could be o2 and still does not throw a code could be many things, have heard about the same coolent sensor causing a problem as well. good luck
Cool thanks. Yeah i'm gonna change that sensor & see it if does the job. I noticed that it runs hella cold for a bit till I get on the highway & crank on the gas. We'll see I guess.
I live in wa state where its below freezing all winter . When i start my SOHC Turbo its like that. You HAVE to let it idle until the oil temp reads on your gauge. Trust me.
