ok its been driving me crazy. every couple of weeks after im driving my car i shut it off and when i go back to it after a few hours i go to start it and nuthin. everythinhg comes on like normal but the car wont crank. i hear the fuel pump come on n all that. i rechecked the wires everything is fine. i turn the key and nuthin no CEL's are comin on. the only wat i kno of to get it to start again. is by letting it sit overnight and then like magic it starts right up! wat du u guys think it could be. im having a buddy of mine bring me my spare starter from his house but that wont be until monday so i wana try n see if i can find out wats wrong or if it could be somethin else besides that. thanks again. here are the specs on the car

i had that problem too and it turned out to be the starter, if it happens again have someone hit the starter and see if it starts

 

i tried the tapping thing n it didnt work. i had my gf start it while i was tappin the starter and nuthin. i was able to start it by using a long flat head with a rubber handle n cross the bolt on the solonoid. could it mean that my solonoid is bad n i need a new starter???

 

if that started it then it is your ignition switch

 

even thogh it only happens every once ina while?and would that be the switch or lock cylinder for the key?

 

if it were the lock cylinder it would slip to off mode which it doesn't, chances are it is the switch

 

I'll have to go with the wanna be F-14 Jockey, when the ignition goes bad it seems like the most random shut downs, and failed starts.
