Default Oil In Spark Plug Cylinders

I was pulling out my spark plugs today and cylinder 1 spark plug had a lot of oil around it. Cylinder 2 spark plug had less oil then cylinder 1. Cylinder 3 had less then 2 & 1, but still contained oil. Cylinder 4 had no oil. I removed the spark plugs and realized they were the wrong spark plugs for this car (99 civic HX). Could this be the cause of the oil leak? Or is it a gasket problem? P.S. It has goo around the spark plugs, when I pulled out the spark plug wires off the spark plug.

Replace the spark plug gaskets on your valve cover.

Do I just take off the valve cover to replace it?

Most of the time the spark plug tube seals come with the valve cover gasket.

The one I just looked at from Napa Auto parts is 15 bucks with all the seals and gasket.

If you over tighten the spark plugs, could that be the cause of oil getting in the spark plug cylinder?
