Default Really Bad Clicking Noise

97 ex 4dr

about a week ago when i made a turn there was a slight clicking noise coming from the wheels(or axel) in the front of the car. tonight the clicking noise all of the sudden became apparent ALL THE TIME (even going straight) except when im braking or going under 20mph.

is it axels, bearings, cv joints (any one know prices?)? is it safe for me to take to a shop about 15 miles away?

Turn the wheels all the way to each side and look to see which CV boot is split wide open. The car should make the 15 mile trip to the repair shop

the steering gear boot (i guess on the rack and pinion) on the drivers side is completely ripped. could that be it? the sound sounds more like from the passenger side (usually) but all the cv boots seemed unripped.

Well clicking in turns is a very common sign of bad outer CV joints; Sorta one of those deals "I can't hear it " online.
But I'd have no worry about driving the short distance to some place you trust to check out the noise/problem.
Really consider getting that rack bellows replaced, you don't need crud and dirt ruining that end seal of the rack.

also my 92' CB7 is having an axle problem(I belive)....i have a stage 2 clutch and when i engage the clutch real easy it doesnt vibrate that much....but when under hard accel. it vibrates hard....seems to be coming from pass. side....and when i turn into a parking lot it sounds like a strut is loose....makes a kinda "clunking" noise....like the strut slammed the strut tower....

but when jacking the car up....no irregular play while in gear....both sides have same amount of play....but im gonna tighten any bolt i can find....and hope for the best

FYI-none of my boots are ripped also

the boots dont have to be ripped to have bad axels. The inner joints can wear out over time, even in sealed boots. If you drive the car hard, or like to do burn outs and ****, it puts undue stress on the joints. Also, axel shafts can develop hair line fractures, which can cause them to tick, and you cant always see it.

ok to further confuse the congregation....after my last post i went outside and tried to tighten all bolts that connected the strut, spindle, and tie rod end....and to my suprise NONE WERE LOOSE....so with a HUGE cloud of confusion(- - -> ) in my head I put the pass. side wheel back on and took my dad around the block and then to a local highway....and NOW not the slightest bit of vibration AT ALL....also there is no clicking noise when turning....but there is still that sound like the strut is still loose(sounds like hitting strut tower)....my guess is the strut is shot and needs replaced....hmmmm stumped

ok so when we drove it lastnight nothing was wrong....so this morning on my way to work I got about 10 miles into my daily drive and started to feel slight vibrations....well I then suspected hard vibration under accel....and it was even harder now than lastnite....it is my axles (or axle) for sure....just have to rule out the good one....how do you kno when an axle is bad?

FYI-like if i removed the axle....how could i tell?

I would say it is definitely one of your axles and you should replace it asap. The way to see if they are trashed is feeling for movement on the axle when you are sitting still. Grab ahold of the axle and try and move it around. It shouldn't move around, but if it does then you know which one is trashed.

check the axels and CV joints...the splines might be worn out and loose or the CV boots are torn...not safe....and annoying

if it sounds like grinding ...get ur brearings might be worn out.

try to stick with original Honda parts as much as you can.

just to let u know...the Canadian RCMP recently released a report which claims more than 50% of car parts in North America are fake and are not in accordance to safety standards...even large auto parts distributors have been fooled into selling imitation car parts.

Mind starting clicking several thousand miles ago. Slowly getting worse. Over 171,000miles on the car most of which is highway at 70+mph. What will eventually happen if I don't get it fixed?
