never the same place but always between 5000 and 8000 rpms the rpm needle seems to shoot up about 1000 rpms........could the hondata have thrown the needle out of whack...the motor sounds fine but the rpm needle looks limp and just rises....this usually when my nos bottle is open but the switch is off and i dont feel like the nos is spraying the needle just jumps like a volt meter

please help......its as if the rpm needle stops but the engine keeps turning like normal then the rpm meter catches up to where it should be....

 

do u have an msd box? or some other ignition box? my friend had an msd box go bad and it did the same thing u are describing its rpms would jump all over on the tach but it seemed to run fine.

 

not an msd box only a blaster cap and distributor......
