Default DX or SI trannys for boost?

Ok I'm just wondering if I go turbo would it be best to keep my DX tranny or go with an Si. Motor is SOHC ZC. I was thinking like since the LS tranny is used for boost apps it would be the same with the DX tranny. Would it hurt my performance and 1/4 times?

ok.... ls isn't good for boost.

Think about why longer gears arn't as good for accel as shorter. I'm not going to start this insane rambling of simple math and how I loathe this urban myth.

use the si tranny.

Yes it would hurt performance, yes it would hurt 1/4 mile times. The fast man in a race is the one who accelerates quickest, not the one who chugs along to some hypothetical top speed of umpteen billion mph. Also, the only difference in the Si transmission and the DX transmission are the final drives, 4.25 --> 3.88.

if ur gonna run more than 10psi, in my opinion, i think the dx tranny would be better cus that turbo will have good time to spool up....with the si tranny, da gears might drop a little too quick but if ur not going to boost too high, use the si tranny...just my .02

Good time to spool up = you are taking a long time to accelerate, how does that help?

What the Dr said makes sense, good thing is the motor will rev higher then the standerd DX motor or course so Im not really worry about building boost BlueRex. DR will the Si or ZC tranny be better in this app? Thanks for the help guys good info so far

I'm personally going to use the SI transmission for simplicity, but later on I will be using a custom geared transmission with a longer first gear for traction in first. Hell, with my D16Z6 I can break first loose if I'm just cruising along at 10mph.

Jesus you guys are rude.
the DX trans is theoretically good to 174 mph. The thing that I would worry about is the strength of the trans. Sacrificing a few tenths for streetability and abundance could be worth it. Shifting every second sucks as well unless you are using your tranny to compensate for lack of power.

roflmao, I left this *****, I mean site, because of stuff like that...... I been through a few topics today and their all horrible.... damn I hate people

its simple logic: short gears= fast acceleration.
what the hell do you want a turbo for besides fast acceleration?

What all is planned for the rehaul? just replacing or upgrading? NA or boost?

My plans: find a new shell, pull my GSR and start building it, swap stuff from new shell to my current CRX so I can either sell it or rock it as a beater. Then I just wanna get all my JDM **** on there (especially the glass roof) and I plan to do alot of write ups for common ?s and what not. IMO the How To's available out there pretty much all suck ***** compared to the quickstop. Otherwise I see a turbo D in my future, but thats a ways away.....

I'm not sure... I've talked to some of the all motor guys and I have a wicked cam idea, almost exact same as pro1s but lil more for my exact setup.

Boost is soooo tempting, so no money spending till I know what I want, motor still runs like a dream.

Turbo Ds are great, one of my local buddies has a wicked little t3/t4 setup on a y8 it moves
