Default How much should this cost?

The tranny needs to be rebuilt/replaced in my 99 cx.

Including parts and labor, what am I looking at?

Thru Honda your looking around $600-900 Dollars. You will better off looking on Ebay, Craigslist, or the classifieds.

Best bet is to buy a decent mileage used Y8 tranny (maybe $200?) and just replace it. Rebuilding a Y7 tranny is a waste of money

I got my y8 tranny with 50k on it for 175 shipped.

labor for install was 200 and a local shop. I did a nice clutch and flywheel for another 200.

all in all, 600 for a nice tranny setup with shorter gears.

What's wrong with what I'm doing? The tranny needed to be replaced anyway and I'm going to start piecing together a turbo setup.

rebuilds are rather expensive:

http://www.gearspeedinc.com/

If you just need a tranny to get you by.... then see about getting a used one... they can be found for $400 including shipping or around $200-250 picked up

Just find a used one locally. expecially with just that tranny no need to pay a lot for a rebuild. I'm still tryin to get rid of my y7 tranny for like $100 but no one wants it.. lol.. It's been sittin in my kitchen for over 6 months

Are you retarted? How many times do I have to say, several reputable shops in Phoenix IE tokyo speed spors, Import powerhouse, all quoted me under $300 for tranny change.

Tokyo is doing it for $200.

Did they even suggest buying a used one

Hell, I'm going to start doing people's transmission swaps/clutch installs for $200 a pop when it starts getting warm, apparently theres money in the business.

i understand that...but you're here braggin about how you payed 175 for a shipped tranny but the OP wanted to know how much for a COMPLETE REBUILD w/ Labor and all of that would cost him....and it cost you over 600...thats what he wants to know but since you're such a retard, i dont think you understand his question....

Maybe I shouyld have worded it differently. All I was suggesting was that he should get a replacement "used" tranny as it will be much cheaper/cost effectice than rebuilding it.

I'm sure many JDM engine dealers have some tranny's laying around for less than $300 that have low miles.

yes...buying a use tranny would be good..and even better if you can swap it in yourself..it should take you a day...2 AT THE MOST if its your first time..
