How to find how much much material has been removed from head?

Default How to find how much much material has been removed from head?

I have a D16y8 head i bought from someone else. How can I measure how much material has been removed during surfacing?

The Helms manual should give you the original head thickness.At least they do for the gsr and B16s.

The factory spec for the D16Y8 head is 3.659-3.663".

how do i measure the thickness? What is the reference point?

Head gasket surface to vc gasket surface.
