Default Aftermarket Steering wheel legalities?

Hey guys, I installed my Spoon steering wheel Saturday, and I was just wondering, I called my insurance company (AAA) and it is an extra fee per year to have it in my car.. However, I forgot to ask them: Are we liable for the passenger if I get into an accident, due to the fact that the passenger airbag is dinengaged?

When you unplug the drivers airbag or install an aftermarket wheel the passenger bag will not work.

I do not like airbags either, just fear them messin up my arms if I'm turning. Although i do have 5 pts. on at all times so the airbag wouldn't do much for me anyhow.

Is there a way to engage the passenger airbag, while having the spoon wheel in there too?

Yes,
1. get a nine volt battery
2. disconnect the airbag connecter above the glove box
3. put the leads across the battery
4. DUCK!!

OR

Get the correct size resistor and plug it into the drivers side airbag plug (going to the SRS ecu). It will trick the ecu to think that there is still both airbags and everything will function correctly. (I am not 100% sure because I have not, and do not intend to get into an accident where the airbags will deploy)

I am surprised AAA would allow you to remove your SRS wheel for a non SRS wheel.

yeah i remember reading somewhere that a resistor shorted across the two srs wires will fix the problem. But has anyone tested it

As for the SRS light in your cluster, just remove the yellow plug from the back of the cluster. No need to take the bulb out.
