check engine light (tried jumping it with a paper clip but nothing happens) help!
my exact problem is in the title. nothing happens when the paper clip is inside the little blue connector. its just a solid light. could that just be my code, or is it suppose to blink at least once???
details:
- the car has been sitting in the garage since December for storage
- decided to let it run today since its been 3 weeks since i last did it and the battery was dead, so i gave it a boost, and than the check engine light has been on ever since
any help would be great

You just might not be making the connection with the paper clip thats all. Try moving it around to make sure its connecting. It'll start flashing as soon you got it.

Don't take it anywhere just yet.
make sure there is nothing obvious wrong.
get the car fully warmed up.
make sure the battery is holding a full charge and the Alt is putting out the correct power with a multi meter.
IIRC if the car sits for a while it will throw a code for the hell of it.
Once the car is warmed up, shut it off.
then refer to the service manual
or try jumping it again while the key is in the "ON" position.
If that does not work, you are doing something wrong. STOP and have it done by someone who has preformed it correctly before.

Remember to have your radio code handy, since it will reset your ecu..and quite possibly your radio.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Can't clear codes like that w/ an OBD2 vehicle... You need a scan tool.
If you know anyone that works at Honda have them hook up the scan tool.

Sure you can. I've done it a number of times on a '99 Civic Si and an ITR.

try hammering the ends of the paperclip flat
if I remember correctly there are actually 4 slots on the connecter, 2 upper and 2 lower.. if it doesn't contact on the upper 2 holes use the lower 2

Have you the engine OFF but ignition ON when jumping the connector? You wont get the codes with the engine running.
