LC-1 not communicating with XD-16 ?!?

LC-1 not communicating with XD-16 ?!?
my buddy helped me install an innovative lc-1 into my civic. i bought the xd16 gauge to go with it, plugged it in and it doesn't seem to be getting any signal for the lc-1.
the o2 sensor heated up during calibration and i doublechecked all my power and ground and signal connections. getting 12.6v all round and all grounds are fine. the analog signal wire is also working fine, giving out 0-1 V
