Stolen Type R's
There should be a thread how many stolen Type R's out there. Everytime I check out this board or ITR site theres another stolen R its crazy. I hate to take mine anywere these days and always looking out my window to make sure its still out there. I guess its the one downside to owning a Type R but keep them safe out there. ITR#32 97

Nobody really wanted to participate in the above thread. I think if we had the historical data, years down the road you could find out what badge number matched the VIN so if it did get stolen, you'd at least know that.

Werd, I've been keeping a list and have just over 100 VIN/badge matches so far. Drop in the bucket, I know.

That idea has been brought up a couple times, however you'd have to have one or more people with access to the entire list. Hence the problem of finding someone who wants to do this project and is trusted by the community with the information. Participation is tough too, most people just won't give out that information to anyone, and with reasonable worry. But I've even had a hard time getting VINs from guys who've authored "My ITR was just stolen" threads. Alot of those guys will be the last one to know the badge/VIN link for that R.
If you know a VIN/badge combo of an R that has been stolen/stripped. Please put out that info, or PM me.

I tried collecting badge numbers.
Theres just not enough type R owners actually on h-t.
You just don't realize how little of the ITR owner population is represented here.
Last year, when I calculated how many had been stolen, based off of carfax, it came out to about 400.
400 out of 3850 is roughly what, 12%?
Even if another 100 were stolen in the last year that only takes it to about 13%.
I have a spreadsheet that I created with all the data in it, except I never got around to putting the known vin/badge combos in there.
No one should be afraid to give up their VIN and badge information.
You aren't making it easier for a theif. Anyone can find your VIN.
I mean come on, I have ALL your VINs.

I would be willing to take on the project. I feel that I'm a trustworthy source, hell, the government trusts me...
If I saw a decent amount of interest, I'd make a new thread.......

I think we could get quite a bit of info, if all the regulars reached out to there community forums. I know of a board around me that houses a few ITR's that dont frequent HT.

Definitely, I realized this right away. I just figure every one I can find makes the project worth it. Even after 5 months I only have about 100 matches. Heck, I'd be ecstatic to reach 1,000
