Stolen ITRs and their respective VINS's
This topic came from a post somewhere else. I was given the idea to start a thread with the VIN number vs. the cars Badge number so that future ITR owners and rebuilders can find out that cars original badge number. If there is any problem with this, the mods can delete or move. I'll start for those future guys.
Car is a PY 2001. Last 5 digits of the VIN are S1083 and the badge number is 01-0559.
Again this is for cars that were stolen, and possibly stripped. A shell that a future ITR owner can put a badge number with.
Adding another one.
Vin is JH4DC2310YS002905 car is an 00 PY ITR. Badge is 00-0529

Pretty sure my shell wont be rebuilt, seeing as how the entire front was removed (from the shock towers forward), but it's still a good reference.
1997 VIN # JH4DC2312VS800320. Her badge # is 474.
Good idea Dave.

Your going to need more than that. It's going to be very hard to determine which number it is exactly without at least the last 5 digits.

this thread is turning pointless. only those who have their vin and badge number should be allowed to post. and to the OP could you perhaps edit your first post with all responses?

I agree. This wasn't created to actually have people post the VIN they have without the badge number, rather the owner who had the car when it was stolen and happens to know the Badge vs. VIN. That way in the future if the car is purchased at say Copart, that owner could then look up the VIN and see what badge it really is. Sorry if I was a little confusing in the original post. Let's try to keep this On-Topic for future owners to refer back to.

PM replied and a very good idea. Now it's just up to the community to figure out who they'd like to have maintain that database. Then we could cross reference the VIN vs Badge numbers.

found an ITR shell with a Jersey inspection sticker in BFE Pennsylvania very close to my work. It was definitely stolen, and now has GSR doors, fenders, front bumper hatch, suspension, cluster. I am going to go back out to the place my friend found it sitting and try and inquire about it. Very interesting that it made it where it has.....id love to know the history of it. Anyways... here is what i thought the VIN was, it appears i may have one character incorrect
JH4DC23121S000322
The character highlighted is the one i believe may be incorrect.
If anyone can carfax for free to help me find out some info on the car it would be greatly appreciated.

Seems correct. I entered that VIN JH4DC23121S000322 into the Honda owner link and came back with a 2001 PY ITR

awesome... thanks for that piece of information
I briefly looked at it realizing it was easy for me to remember without writing it down and thought that perhaps i was mistaking that second number one for the letter "L".

The tenth digit is the year so for an R there's obviously only four options.
2001=1
2000=Y
1999=X for canada ehh
1998=W
1997=V
Anything other than those numbers/letters then it means that it is not an R or not the actual VIN. The last four are the production order off the line that year. The eighth (anyone whose positively sure about this one please correct me) is the engine, from what I can tell all the R's have a 1 but I've come across discrepancies between manufacturers as to what this number means so I'm not sure.

I currently own the above mentioned vehicle, and I need to get the title for it
The guy I bought it from in MD , got it from a guy who got it from a guy who lost the NJ salvage title. I called the NJ DMV who told me it was registered to allstate who told me they sold it to an auction. I dont know what auction sold it though, I could get them to get a duplicate or the person who bought it from the auction. the NJ DMV said if I were a resident of NJ I could get the title in my name by going through a few steps and it would take about a month.
now , If anyone of you guys know anything and could help me out that would be great, I offered to sell it to ITR.#1446 on here to replace his friends totaled one and since he is in NJ he could title it.
if he doesnt buy it, anyone on that lives in NJ wants to either buy it or help me title it I would be very greatful, dont let another R die
