I'm planning on picking these up:

And I'm wondering what the widest and largest slick I can fit on them is. I don't plan on going higher than 24.5's, but I'm wondering if a 23" slick will do the trick for me (<400whp when all done, 300-330whp for this season)? Can I run a 9" slick, or am I stuck with 8" due to the 7" width of the wheel?
Setup is a stock ITR motor/tranny, with a SC61 in a full-weight EX coupe.

You can run a 9" slick if you want to. Just make sure it'll clear the suspension.
It'll end up being a little more narrow on the footprint than a full 9", but it'll also grow a little taller at the finish line.
It's a trick the fuel guys have used to get more mph out of the gearing restrictions they have. They run a 15" rim with a 17" wide tire so it'll grow more. I think the NHRA put a stop to that practice, though, because they don't want them going any faster, or deforming the tire any more than they already have been.
You can also do just the opposite and run a wider rim than the tire. This gives you a wider contact patch for the launch, but reduces the amount of tire growth at the finish line.

i would say a 9" wide is safe, assuming you have clearance as they will tend to roll around. any wider than that and they wont sit too flat, they will kinda bubble in the center. i did run a 10.5" on a set of 8" i had on my t type, but the drive wheels arent the steer wheels. so i wouldnt go over an inch on either side.
I'm currently running 26 x 10 M/T slicks on 15 x 8 rims without any issues. The foot print is still fine. Especially at 6 psi.
