Default clanking noise

Hey guys. Installed my K&N typhoon SRI like <2 weeks ago and the last week or so I started to notice some clanking if I fudged up the clutch and the rpm's dropped really low but didn't stall. Then, I went in reverse and it was MUCH more noticeable as I took my foot slowly off clutch but didnt push gas. It is clutch related. Last night, I went in reverse and it's substantially LOUDER! Think it is something lose that I didn't tighten all the way and is getting looser and looser? (which is bad because I am at work and have to drive home, yikes, lol) But yeah, please help a fellow Si'er!

Thanks guys

Just check the fastners. All of them. Even if you have to take the thing off and recheck all the clamps and bolts on the intake itself, and then check all the mount points for it as well while re-installing it. I've got a K&N, and there are quite a few places to accidentally miss tightening down a bolt, nut, or screw.

p.s. just went out for lunch at work, and its even louder going forward, (engine was cold, 28 degrees outside).. and its DEFINITELY related to the clutch movement/pedal.

One word - WARRANTY if it is not relayed to any intake issues.

That new intake sits right on top of your transmission. If I had to guess, it's probably just a fitment issue. Something is probably loose allowing your intake to tap on top of your transmission. You would notice it more in reverse because the motor / transmissions mounts let the motor move more when you're going backwards. Don't worry too much, just check your work. Even if it was right 2 weeks ago, vibration can be a bitch.

very true... i looked it all over from what i could see and nothing is loose, i tried moving it, knocking on it, nothing.. sounds like it might need to be taken out and checked the connections underneath huh?

Yeah, I'd probably pull it off and reinstall. I would almost put money on it being an intake issue and not tranny/clutch. I was really just thinkin' out loud when I typed the intake sits on the tranny, not trying to disrespect you

Good luck to you
