Dies while driving at hiway speeds
My daughter has a 1994 Integra 112cid, auto trans, 160k miles. The car has recently developed a dies while driving concern. It will restart immediately and runs fine until it decides it wants to die again. OK now for diag. tips for all you Honda techs. When the engine dies and the car is still moving the speedo drops to 0. I drove the veh today to try to learn a few things about the circumstances surrounding the dieing concern. I was unable to duplicate the concern myself(go figure) however I did find something I thought was very unusual if you turn the ignition off while driving as long as the speed does not drop below 20mph it will restart simply by turning the key back to run(not to the start position). I tried this a number of times and the results were the same I left the ignition switch turned off for several seconds as the veh coasted down and as long you turned the key back on above 20mph it will restart. I have been a Ford technician for many years but have very little experience with imports. The fact that the speedo drops to zero while the veh is still moving would seem to indicate a power interruption possible from the ign. switch or a relay. I have access to "ALLDATA ONLINE" and I will understand most technical jargon. Anybody got any ideas.
is your lights radio and everything else shutting off with the car, cause if it is the ignition could be bad or the main relay, but if it starts right back it probaly is your ignintion switch this is happended to me once before
