Default How much are ITRs going for?

Hey guys, this is my first post since being away from HT for... 5 years? I've been over on Subaru boards for the past couple years but always dreamed of getting an ITR. How much are they going for these days? KBB has nothing and I looked thru the FAQ but it seems to be mostly technical discussions. Anywhere to find retail/private party value of Type Rs?

Thanks

Pending widely on year, condition, and modifications... I say anywhere from $10,000-$20,000 on average.

That's sorta the answer I was expected lol... I would be looking for a bone stock (or close to it) good condition west coast car. Anywhere I can find information on this?

16-17k should get you nice ,bone stock, good condition, clean title Type R with about 40-60k on it and the year does not matter that much. Mileage and condition is what matters the most.

You could buy a Type R for 10-11k but with a rebuilt title (previous theft recovery or salvage). Personally I would not recommend that.

I was looking for one for a year so I have done my research......

It's amazing how these cars have held their value . How long did it take you to find the one you ended up buying? Seems like most ITR owners also have a daily driver too.. Looks like in a budget for a Type R you need a second car, a garage, and an SCCA membership haha.

It took me a year and it was a 4th one I test drove. I live in Chicago and I could not find anything here so I drove all the way to Pittsburgh to pick up mine (470 miles each way)

Here is a thread about my road trip

In Canada, high mileage ITRs w/100k+ still fetch 14-15gs CDN. Low mileage go anywhere from 17-23gs depending on condition.

US and Canada market is pretty similiar for the ITR.. infact, i think they cost more in the states, + bringing it over would cost alot too with damn taxes.

Anyway, considering it is a limited car, and theres not a big supply for the big demand, mint low mileage ones definetly still fetch a pretty penny! Same goes with E30 BMW M3s, Supra TTs, Acura NSXs, those rally corollas or whatever the hell.. etc etc

Gluck with your search! Hope you join our gang soon

I think the 97 & 98 Fetch a little more cash than the 00-01 if they are in good condition. Reguardless of what year.. any itr with under 60k miles in good condition will go for 14k+ at a minimum. Then its just a matter of what add on its has and how mint it is and just keep adding up the price.

Thank you.
The momo shift boot and **** actually dont look too bad in person, I even dont like the way it looks in the picture either
It actually came as an upgrade from the dealer and I have grown to like it because it has made the car a little more personalized, but i do realize it may be a little too flashy for some.

Last reply of the day (trial membership ftw)

I feel like I should wait to get an ITR till I have a house etc but I feel that by then there will not be many nice examples of the car left I think a GS-R might be a better bet (for me anyways) and get the ITR later. Also, it's probably a better idea to get one later when I am not living in a college town, have a garage to store her, and a second car to save useless mileage from the R. One day, I guess

Thanks for all the replies guys. Now I want a stupid Type-R even more! Bahh humbug

Yeah I think that ITR's are resold relatively high because of the number produced and the "fun factor" of the loud driving experience.

To put it into perspective:

You can pick up a 2002 M3 with say, 50k miles for $30000. You can buy a '97 ITR in great shape with 50K miles for $15-16k. So a 10 year old car holds it's value (60% of original price) about the same as a much newer, mass produced sports car that is in high demand.

I don't understand why anyone would pay that much money. The car isn't very fast stock. If you want a Type R that bad go make one with a LS rolling chassis. I guess I won't understand because with that kind of money you are knocking on the door of cars that far exceed the "Hype R." I've never been a fan of handling so straight line performance is all I think of.

I mean at the end of the day a FWD car can only handle so good...I don't think that car handles good enough to warrant a 15k price tag for an Integra.

Oh well it isn't my dinero
