build the R or keep it pure?
im gonna be buying a DD soon as my R is my DD right now. so im contemplating mildly building my R for just a fun weekend/track track car. which would include mild engine build(stock bottom end), suspension, remove ac, gutted interior, maybe a cage. Or do you think i should keep my R pretty much stock with ihe. either way i will be keeping it for Many years to come, someday it will be my classic. do you believe that heavily modding an itr makes it less prestigious? thanks for your help guys
btw. if i end up not doing anything more to the r i will probably spend my money on my dd lol. probably a civic coupe or something. thanks again

I say its your car, build it the way you want. If your not going to fully enjoy it the way it sits then build it so you will enjoy it.
Mine isn't completely stock, but if you look at it from the outside it looks pretty much stock other than the exhaust. I wouldn't have it any other way.

From my own experience I would simply say, that if you do build it, built in such a manner that returning it to stock will not be a pain in the ***.
Such as keeping the bottom end stock, keeping the tranny stock...keeping all the OEM parts around that you had taken out.

As long as she's clean, sell heR to someone who wants a stock R. Then use the money to pick up a shell, put in a cage, then build as you want. You might still have $$ left over......for track time
Keep it stock with I/h/e and other little things like suspension. You may want to mod it right now, but later you will appreciate the caR for what it is, and you will be thankful that you never did anything drastic.
If you wanted to go turbo your anything all out, you should have gotten a gsR, b/c its like wasting money on a perfectly built and balanced NA engine and then tearing it apart.

You don't know the first thing about an R do you ?
Straightline isn't that great but wait for those corners... Dunno how a TransAm handles but I'm pretty sure its not in the same league as an R
Build it !

Stock+Better Brake Pads+Baffled Oil pan+HPDE funds =
I wish this is what I would've done originally.
Then, when you feel ready for a suspension upgrade, change out the stock suspension for something better.
I just don't think gutted/caged car is Mild. I think of something easy to return to stock specs as a mild build

if your giong to keep it for a few years you should build it so you can enjoy it more
but make everything reversible, why not pick up a sleeved 84 or 85mm gsr or ls block and a p&p head so you can build your car but have the stock engine and stock tranny if you ever do sell it

if you want to keep it classic, keep it stock. if you want to make it fast, go turbo. if you want to make it a track car, you're free to do that too. you're free to do whatever you want with your car. what do you want out of your car? there are 20 some replies in this thread and everyone has differnt ideas. if you do'nt know what you want to do, then don't do anything at all.
