Default 2 quick q's about the Cusco cage...tried search but can't find anything

I was looking at thier (cusco/safety 21) 7 pt setup and it seems that the driver, with a helmet, would be REAL close to the cage.
Now, i'm small 5'7", 155 lbs soaking wet, but it still seems real close. I also read that there is a helmet cut out but it is on the right hand side of the halo for RHD vehicles.
My question is do they make a cage for the LHD cars or is thier enough head room to use the stock seats w/ a helmet and a padding around the bar with out smacking the halo?
My other question is why do all the picts i see of this cage in the cars have no padding? it may look good but i don't feel like hitting that thing plus i would think you would need that padding to pass even a track day event.
Just curious. thanx guys!

If you search around on here you'll probably find that most of the folks here think Cusco is nothing but bling.

If you truly want a cage, personally, I wouldn't suggest daily driving with it.

And for competition use I don't believe it meets the safety specs of most organizations out there.

I'm not sure off the top of my head who else offers a cage for the S...but a quick Google might help...

The padding would bring it even closer to your head.

If you're serious about competition, get a weld in made specifically for your car, stature, and racing goals. I'm assuming you are since you're asking about a 7pt.

I brought up the 7pt because on bulletproof automotive's site, the 7pt picture is the only one you can clearly see what i'm talking about.
yeah, the padding would bring it closer but i wasn't sure if with it there still would be enough room. If it's just bling, then not worth my money. Not really into spending money on stuff that doesn't work especially if i depend on it to keep myself from getting hurt.
Honestly, i just want a little more protection then the stock hoops but with the option to add on later.
I plan on getting heavy into the track days at the moment not full race just yet and i honestly can't afford a hardtop to fit most of the other bars.
I guess i would probably have to go custom to get what i'm looking for? any suggestions?

Spoon/Mugen 7pt rigid cage (no bolt joints) seem to be a better choice. I've done the install on a 7pt cusco and you have to get the drill spots on point or else the cage will fit like ****. A weld in wouldn't cost THAT MUCH more than the Mugen/Spoon pieces; the prices may even be comparable. Look into a weld in 4/6pt.

The Cusco cage looks pretty, but I wouldn't want to be in the car if it rolled over or was involved in a serious crash...

those speculations have been said many times. has anyone ever experienced or seen a cusco cage fold in?

i've seen a hatch rolled over and so to speak bling cusco cage actually saved his roof from folding in. if he had a 6 point it probably would've killed him due to no helmet.

what i'm basically trying to say is, either way you're bound to get hurt if the S flips.

mr. lucky's back... sorry

This is true the damn cage is made of chromoly its not going to move that much in a flip... But in the S its so close to you and thats what increases your chances of getting hurt

I had asked the question a while ago and from what everyone has told me, go with a weld in. Spoon, Mugen, Safety 21, cusco, all the same with their bolted joints. You are deffinatly going to want to go with a weld in.

Im still looking around for a good place to do mine. any suggestions??

Ok, so since i'll pretty much be going custom weld in now, untill i get the money for that, can i run a set of harness's with the stock hoops? if so, how you guys doing it? is it just a bar that would be welded in between the hoops and i'd wrap the belts around the bar or would i have to go through the metal and install the hooks and reinforcements then clip the belts to that?

if not going all out ***** to the wall why bother with the cage? there are many many die hards running their S without anything of with just a 4pt.

You can go with the Bitterman Roll bar or the ELDA enginering bar. Both are good quality and meet's (Some) competition requirements.
