D16A1 like the DOHC ZC engine in the 1st gen Integras? I'm pretty sure it's not a direct fit (the B18 head).

Without ANY modifications....NO.

They are named in SERIES for a reason.

B-Series
D-Series
H-Series

Catch the drift...

yeah but there is a D16 DOHC engine as well as the D16 SOHC Civic engines. You can't always go by the letter-series designation alone.

And I'd just like to note that you can put different series heads on a different series block... H22 head on an F22 block...

D16A1 is a DOHC head, just like the B18A1 head. The reason I asked this question is because D16A1 motor is burning oil like crazy, smokes a lot, and I am thinking its because of bad valve stem seals. Instead of doing anything to the D16A1 head, I have a B18A1 head available which I can put on this D16 block if its a direct fit, and may be get a little more power.

It's not a direct fit. Just replace the valve stem seals. They will cost you less than $30 for the set, and you can put them in without removing the head if you have a compressor and the fitting for the spark plug port. That is if it's the valve stem seals, and not the rings. Generally if it's the valve stem seals, then it will smoke a lot at start up due to oil leaking down into the combustion chamber overnight, and clear up. If it smokes pretty much all of the time, and a lot at high rpm's then I'd be willing to bet it's your rings.

Wow, I thought I would have to undo the whole head to replace the vavle stem seals. It smokes when I start the car and after I have stopped at a stop light for a minyte or two and then it goes away. Especially at higgher RPMs, it doesn't smoke and if it does, it doesn't smoke as much. SO how can I replace the valve seals without taking the head out///

why would you want to do that? if you're looking for more hp, or whatever i suggest to just get some zc cams. that's the only difference from d16a1 and zc motors.

Its a small quick connect designed tool that threads into your spark plug ports just like the plugs do, and the compressed air from your compressor holds the valves up while you change out the valve stem seals. Most parts stores can get them.

Dang...I'm gonna do that instead. Thanks a lot. Also, if I change cams do I need to do anything more than just replacing them?
