Anybody know whats the diff between a s20 and a s40 5 speed trans someone told me years 92-95 and 96-98 im askin cause i got a 98 civic ex with trans trouble and someone said i can use the s20 trans he gave me......ANY HELP WILL DO?????......ANY PROBLEMS,CONCERNS,WARNINGS???????? PLEEEEEASE HELP I AINT GOT REVERSE

SEARCH up noob...you would have found that S20 has shorter gears then S40...now go search for more info..

 

ive been trying to search!!!!!! so your answer is yes it will fit no problems????just shorter gears right? Im gonna need better search resources.... any suggestions?

yes...you can use it...

 

S20 transmission is from 92-95 Civics

S40 transmission is from 96-00 Civics

S20 will fit on 96-00 Civics and vice versa. There is minimal difference in gear ratios between the S20 and S40 EX transmissions; mian difference is steel shift forks in the 96-00 transmissions.
