Default Going through Silverstars every other week...

Okay, first a little background:
Low beam: H1, Silverstars, last about 2 weeks
High beam: H1, bulbs came with headlight, have lasted 13 months

I've had projectors for about 9 months with wire connectors from TYC with no problems except flickering because the connectors would come loose. About 6 months ago I started using SilverStars low beams. They worked great for 4 months until I switched wire connectors, trying to fix the flickering problem.

I used some kind of twist connectors, from the auto department of Wal-Mart (SHOULD be able to use on a CAR). I used wrapped them (heavily) in electrical tape in attempt of keeping out water. But they have been burning out excessively and I want to sell the car w/o problems.

Is it the connectors causing the problem? If so, what type could I use? I know stock, but I don't have them anymore. It's strange that only the SilverStars are burning out. Maybe it's the combination of Silverstars/connectors. HELP!

THanks a lot guys

Why not go back to the TYC connecters and try to secure them so they don't get loose? What do you mean by connectors anyway? The plung in things? Just zip tie them so they stay plugged in. Pictures would help but I would say go back to the other wires/connectors because the walmart crap is well crap.

Also you are not touching the bulbs right? If you touch the bulb it kills it alot quicker.

try rewiring it back to the way it started using crimps and connectors that give solid connections. If not use the factory headlight wiring and a DIY relay harness.

I'm on my third and LAST set of Silverstars. They're known to blow especially in sudden cold weather.

Great bulbs when they work

Good idea but I cut the wire really short. What can I do about this?

Is there a company that makes "weather secure" connections or should I just go to a junkyard?

Try to solder the wires up good. Then use brush on electrical tape. Make sure when you install the bulbs you do not touch the glass. The oil from your fingers causes a hot spot on the bulb, and causes them to blow prematurely.

I bought $5 Slyvania's or something from Wal-Mart and they have lasted a week! Through rain, bad wintery mix and turning them on and off quickly for a good minute.

It's not the same problem if it only happened on one side.
