This has happened a couple times:

I'm driving down the road and my motor just shuts off. Lights stay on, but foglights and windows stop working. Car won't start right away. I have to let it sit for a few mintues before it will start again.

I'm supposed to be driving out to Laguna Hills tonight... Someone please lend your expertise

car is a 98 civic with a b16 and a type r ecu

 

What does it do when you try to start it?

 

it turns over but doesn't start. if i wait about 5-10 minutes then it'll start right up and then shut off a few miles down the road.

 

i have had a knock sensor code for a while if that helps... just replaced distributor cap, rotor, and fuel filter yesterday. it ran fine all day yesterday and today until tonight.

 

Sounds like it might be your main relay. Does your fuel pump prime?

 

does it what? sorry. I'm not very technical. i unplugged the ecu for awhile and just plugged it back in and started my car. it smells like gas and is idling funny. not high, just sounds off

 

oh well. i'm just gonna go drive it off a cliff. Thanks for your help. I'll have to fix it when I get back into town this weekend. Have a good night.

 

turns out it was a problem with my remote start... took it out. Car runs.
