hey guys im a bit concerned with my 98 civic.. if i touch the #4 spark plug wire the top that goes into the head. i can feel a tick like if something is hitting against the spark plug.. now i cant hear it only feel it, all other cylinders i feel nothing when i touch the top of the plug wire.. #4 is knocking at me!! what could this be, is something hitting the spark plug?.. of course when the revs increase the speed of the "hit" increases.. what could this be..??

 

nothing is slapping your spark plug...if it did the electrode would break and eat a piece of your valve and you would loose that cylinder...at most you might need a valve adjustment....

 

i took the spark plug out and it looked frosty with white specks.. plus it was really loose i think that might have been it, i replaced it and now i dont feel that knock anymore.. would that being loose be the reason for the discoloration, all the other spark plugs look decent

 

the white color is running lean..the speckles are pieces of metal from running low grade gas and holding the pedal to the floor...its called spark knock...next time you fill up try a grade higher and if you hear a sound like popcorn popping when you floor the gar let out...
