possibly valve seals going, but yes most vtec motors that are "stock" tend to smoke from the years of abuse

Yes, that is the most likely the reason.

Cars burn a **** hair of oil when they go into VTEC.

Obviously as the engine gets older seals weaken etc. and it burns more oil on the VTEC crossover. Unless it's like a ridiculous amount of smoke, I wouldn't worry about it unless you're about to do an engine re-build, buildup, boost, etc. Just keep an eye on whatever level it is (blue = oil, white = coolant, black = gas)

I wouldn't worry about it, though as doood and brick top said, tell us what color the smoke is.

Your car will puff alittle bit of black smoke when you go into vtec that is normal its from the extra fuel needed for vtec. Its basicly the same as a turbo more boost the more fuel in this case its like have a big cam all of a sudden it needs to compinsate with more fuel.

But it is a honda and you could have weak rings or need valve seals as well.

Well it does have a 140k on it.... so it sounds like your burning oil heavily during vtec engagment... most likely your piston rings are starting to bite the dust... I would recommend a rebuild... or if it was me.. I would just do a low milage LS bottem end. You cant go wrong with a Ls Vtec. It would be cheaper and you would have more power.

My SI smokes in VTEC mode. Apparently, it was beaten on alot by the previous owner. My rings are ok since my compression was in range so my valve stem seals are going bad. Do a compresssion check. If it's in range, your rings are ok and it's the valve stem seals you need to replace...no biggie.

yeah mine too.. but mine is stock and has low *** miles, so maybe thats why. But most cars that push it all the way let go some kind of smoke i have seen 06 Mustangs to 99 Accord's.. and everthing inbetween.

could be blow by if so you will need to re ring the pistons and hone cylinder walls, Or could just possibly be that you are running way to rich once v-tec engages.

What you dont think your car adds any extra fuel when vtec crosses over??No thats right the ecu is just going to let the car run super lean.I guess my car is fucked because its richens up when vtec crosses over.
