new member, a few questions!
Hi everyone, I just got my hch 2 about a month ago. I really enjoy getting 40 mpg but the handling leaves much to be desired for. Im thinking of adding civic si rims, and a set of swaybars to begin with. I hear spacers are required to run si rims on a hybrid, can anyone shed some light on this? Whats a good cheap set of bars to go with?
A little about me, Im 28, Ive been racing street, strip, track you name it since I was 19. My previous vehicles were:
2002 C5 Z06 415rwhp/398 rwtq: Longtubes, cam and tuning. On nitto 555 R2's I pulled 1.25 G in that thing, ran a 12.22 at 119 mph with a 2.15 60', I also took it to Laguna Seca and ran about 20 laps or so there PASSING an underdriven Carrera GT.
Before that I rode a 99 Suzuki hayabusa making 180 rwhp via a set of yosh cams, muzzy header and a PC2, I went 10.1@141 mph on that thing, a more capable and lighter ran a 9.56@155mph with it. I went 190 more times than I can count on both hands.
Before that I had a 98 Pontiac TransAm pushing 500 rwhp, pulled .94 G and went 11.9@119 mph with it. It had a Vortech Blower and a good amount of work done to the suspension and drivetrain.
And before that a 95 Camaro Z28, completely stock I went 14.7@94 mph back in the day.
I have done the majority of the aforementioned work on my cars to include a frame swap on the busa after I laid it down, which meant taking it completely apart and putting it back together again. Im not rich, I worked hard for my speed, serving 8 yrs in the army and a trip to the desert so no rich boy puns please.
Im a domestic guy, I wont be adding double maxwell coffee can exhaust or a triple decker spoiler to it. I just want it to handle like better. Any advice would be great.

I can't help you much on the Hybrid stuff, but how the heck did you get into Laguna Seca? I have been trying for months and they just will not let someone in, if they are not a member of a sponsored club?

there aren't many hybrid owners unfortunately & even fewer that "upgrade" it to handle better.
Personally if i were you i'd opt for the oem si equip used to "see" if you could get away with sways and such... as for the wheels maybe find someone in your area that would swap it
but keep in mind, if you DO swap the wheels they will NOT be as light as your oem equip and could effect your ride
