Default First time at the track, boosted auto teg of doom

Well I went to e-town for the first time (first time racing period) with integra girl racer (thanks btw). Needless to say it was packed and the street cars basically only got 2 runs, I got 1 run in as soon as we got there, then waited 3 hours for the last run.
I ran with speaker boxes and spare tire taken out, 17" rims (light) with khumo tires.

R/T: 1.304
60' 2.735
330 7.030
1/8 10.439
MPH 72.13
1000 13.417
1/4 15.922
MPH 90.73

Can you tell I'm a shitty launcher/racer in general hehe. I need much more practice, the tree and staging makes me all nervous. Found the car leans out like hell at high rpms, (tuned afc a little more to compensate). Anyways I was told that if the launches are better my 1/4 could improve alot. The time listed above was the second and best of the 2, first was 16.0

Needless to say I thought I'd hit 14's but looking at the trap etc I don't think thats possible as is. Any insight into what I could be hitting if my 60' was better? Integ girl racer runs a best 60' of 2.6 and she's auto too, essentially same car as me cept non turbo.

Engine held together like a champ, no querks or jerks, and the tranny took it like a champ. oh and I also power braked both runs, not sure how much rpm I went up to but whatever.

take out box
take off rims.
it accounts for a little more than 1/2 a second on my car

put your stock tires in the front, run it at about 20psi. you without 17's and the system it should get some more top end for a least a low 15.
but that auto tranny is gonna kill you.

well the box and spare where out of the car for the runs, but thanks for the idea of running the stocks at 20psi

only the tiny tuning I did on the fly with the afc , yes I am lacking tuning...... but you might be forgetting I'm automatic also possibly?

hey shadowdawn..you should really get that tranny cooler if you power brake. have any idea on a stock auto LS time ? i'll be going to the track in a week or two..then sometime during the summer i'll be getting the greddy turbo kit and run it at the track again.

odb1 stock auto probably 16.9 in that area, odb2 or 97 or 98+ models probably 17.0 or higher...... so my time isent horrible considering stock times... someone I know with a 01 ls, aem intake, dc header, n1 3" exhaust..... even with all that and advanced timing ran at best a 16.5 with automatic.

I dunno, even with the auto i think u should still be faster. U have a turbo LS auto or not and u r running w/ a stock GSR, just doesnt add up if u ask me.. I dont think ur car is making enough power. Id put it on a dyno asap. even though its auto id still expect 96-97mph out of it.

no, he'd be losing to a stock GSR. I say, if you can spend thousands on a turbo system, what's $500 for a tranny? BTW, I was running 15.7@89 in my LS with I/H/E.

I say, get a GSR tranny, run MUCH better and call it a day.

i totally agree with you, the car should be running better than it did. That is a very poor time even if it is an auto. Your mph should definitely be higher. I would just double check everything, make sure your pipes are all connected correctly, etc.

Dont worry, it was your first time at the track. Your times should improve with some pratice. Your 60ft times are bad, really bad! Improve on your 60ft time and your 1/4 mile time will improve exponentially.

did you remember to take the parking brake off and put the car in gear?
you can try shifting at redline without the button from low gear up to 3rd, your launches suck were you watching the your tree or somebody elses dial in???

Car shifts at redline as is (6700 or 6800 sometimes). Yes my launches suck and I could use practice.

yeah man, you got some problems... you NEED to tune the car... on a DYNOJET, not on the *** dyno! recently i ran my car and got a HORRIBLE LAUNCH and still got better than you... and my automatic is jacked up, i had my silencer in, and i'm running a JRSC, full interior and all, in street trim! I'm able to keep up with a turbo miata running low 14's, though... not bad for "ping machine" powered automatic with a plug in my exhaust.

get the car tuned cuz its sad if you are slower than me... you shoulda ran at least low 14's...

Could you post your slips or times Csufweed in detail? I'd like to compare the slip times to mine, and your setup to mine even though your sc and I'm turbo yea this does all not make sense to me, I was thinking 14's and 95+ mph at the track and I was far from .

Looks like I'll be hunting down a shop in NJ with a dyno and reputable (NOT I.M.P.)

DO NOT POWERBRAKE. If you want that torque converter to last do not powerbrake. Worst thing you can do for a torque converter. This is coming form the guys at Pro-Torque who build converters to handle 600 and up hp. DONT POWERBRAKE PLEASE

Hehe, that's like saying to MT owners:

"Don't slip your clutch. It is the worst thing you can do to a clutch. DO NOT SLIP IT!"

How is an auto tranny owner supposed to launch then ?

Thats what i asked him. I said by the time it gets off the line we the race is over. He said use NOS to spool it off the line but DONT POWERBRAKE. He said it just like that as if he started talking in caps. He must have told me when we dropped it off called to picked it up and picked it up. He was very strict on that warning.

Regaurdless what you do racing is bad for parts of every car. I talked a good long time with the guys at levelten about all my options etc... and got on that topic. They told me to launch, powerbrake... obviously don't do it for more then 2 seconds if possible as it heats everything up. Obviously its not good for the trans, but you do what you do... dumping the clutch isen't good on a stick but when your at the track thats what you do, and some people power shift.. thats lovely on transes.

my tranny is crazy though... i'll put it in D4 and stomp the gas like half throttle and the rpms jump to about 3k rpms... i make full boost by 2k rpm so its enough to get me off the line without bogging or anything. fukked up tranny. maybe not.
