LSD making clicking noise
Yo,
So i had bought a new LSD tranny rebuilt, i also ordered a Mugen LSD to place in my tranny. once i got it back i noticed that ONLY when im turning both left and right that it makes this pretty rough clicking sound ( that i can also feel )
when i drive it straight its fine....
another weird thing is that this ONLY happens when the car is cold, if i drive it for about 3-5 miles the clicking goes away. ???

Ya thats what i heard...i called the shop and asked why it was making that noise. even took him for a ride. and he said not to worry about it cause its normal. but it just doesnt feel right, that and me having to wake up for work....
I think it does that cause your not going fast enough to fully engage the LSD, try picking up some speed around those corners, see if that helps.

It's 100% normal for a clutch pack LSD to "chatter" or "click," especially during low speed turns.
Hopefully you've used an MTF with a friction modifier...

Def use a friction modified fluid. I dont know what Mike uses, but I use GM Synchromesh and my clutch type lsd works great. Chatter is normal, I've found that changing my fluid more frequently quiets the lsd a bit more.

Mike's lsd sounds like a cow going through a meat grinder when he makes sharp turns!

Honda released the new MTF to correct people's shifting complaints, might be worth a try vs. the older style.
The newer fluid comes in a bottle with a silver cap.
A lot of alternative fluids do seem to allow easier shifting, but cause increased syncro wear over the long haul, especially if driven hard. The synchros need a certain amount of friction to work properly. If they're already shot and grinding then I suppose it's worth a try.</TD></TR></TABLE>
