Oil Temp vs. Oil Pressure
I'm going to be getting an air/fuel gauge and I'd like to also get something to monitor some life signs from my baby. I was wondering which is a better sign to be monitoring, oil temperature or oil pressure? TIA
Both. Or just oil temp. Pressure will rise with temperature.
oil pressure actually goes down when oil temp goes up, because oil changes
viscosity as it becomes hot.
If you dont track your car, then oil pressure alone is fine.
Agreed... oil temp is imporant to watch at track events (along with water temp) to let you know if your car is running too hot. This shouldn't be a problem on the street. Oil pressure problems can strike whenever and will let you know when to shut the car off to avoid potential damage.
