This is a new one to me. I went outside a little while ago to warm up my car. I went to turn the key and it wouldnt go in all the way. I jiggled it around a bit and got it to go in. Then I went to turn it but nothing happened. Its just stuck like the wheel is locked. So I played with it some more and moved the wheel back and forth and nothing. Then I moved the wheel as far as I could and it locked and the key still wont turn in the ignition.

I have no idea what is going on. Ive never had an ignition problem in any of the cars Ive owned. Do you think that it could be becuase its freezing cold outside? I mean its like -15F outside at the moment.

Is there someway you can warm up the lock, I.e. Blow dryer?

 

I dont have a blow dryer or a heat gun.

Ya im in Hamilton here, had the same problem and was like WTF. I jiggled it around for a bit, played with the steering wheel and got the key to turn after a minute or so

Edit - I'm sure it has something to do with our -25 C w/ windchill at the moment because it hasnt happened to me before other than now

 

Could be. I had some melted snow on my finger and it stuck to the ignition ring around where the key goes, kinda like when you lick a metal poll in the winter. LOL. Its cold as ***** out. I hope thats the problem.

Anythings possible in this ****, -20 with wind this morning .
We just got upwards of about 6 inches from 1-6 p.m. today in ****** CINCINNATI. I would say try to warm it up/ or play with it.

 

Well I called my mechanic and told him the problem. He gave me some tips and nothing works. I got my spare get that was cut from the VIN and was told that since its new it would work. So I tried that.... and no dice. Looks like I need a whole new ignition system. Anyone know if CRX and Civic ones are interchangable?

Try it tomorrow, i'm pretty positive it's just the cold. You're experiencing the same problem as me, might just take time. Keep it in the garage overnight, and let her warm up a bit.

It's too cold for snow to fall here

 

No garage. Hell even my ef8 is sitting under snow.

Yea, Like i say if its cold I AT LEAST want it to snow, it WAS to cold to snow here in the morning but we just got hit pretty good and now its not to bad, since it snowed it warmed up. Its weird how that one works
