throwing code p1457 after fixing code p0453
I purchased a 97 civic cx hatch with a z6 swap recently, when i purchased the car hatch it had a cel for p0453 which i fixed with the potentiometer hack. Now a week later a new code pops up p1457. are these codes related or are they 2 seperate things, any input would be appreciated, also if anyone has any advice on getting rid of this code it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Roman

This is a code for a "large" Evap leak. Check to make sure all of you evap/canister/fuel tank hoses are connected or that you have a gas cap on.

Gas cap is more likely to throw the P0453 than the P1457. I'm experiencing the same "Code 90" problem (P0450/453) with my 99 B18B1 swap in my 97 CX. Turns out the ecu looks for the FTP sensor, and 96-98 CX's don't have an FTP. I'm not doing the pontentimeter trick because it's not a runability issue, and I'd rather just fix it by running a chipped OBD1 ecu (OBD1 doesn't check for FTP).

Gas cap should throw a p1456. I was throwing a p1457. Since it is obd2 emissions related and I planed on converting to obd1 for tuning purposes I did not fix it. After I converted, no more CEL

1456 is for a "small" Evap leak which "can" be from a faulty gas cap (gas cap on but loose or broken releasing pressure). 1457 is for a "Large" Evap leak which can come from several different solenoids/valves or a "Missing" gas cap!
This is exactly what the Honda Manual lists as possible causes for 1456 and 1457 dtc's...
-Fuel fill cap
-Vacuum Connections
-FuelTank
-EVAP Control Canister Vent Shut Valve
-EVAP Control Canister Vent Shut Valve Circuit
-EVAP Purge Control Solenoid Valve
-EVAP Purge Control Solenoid Valve Circuit
-EVAP Bypass Solenoid Valve
-EVAP Bypass Solenoid Valve Circuit
-Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor
-Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor Circuit
-EVAP Control Canister
-Throttle Body

You may need to replace your gas cap as well. Sometimes, they just loose tension.

If you've fixed the problem:
Step 1: Disconnect negative battery cable
Step 2: Drink a beer
Step 3: Reconnect negative battery cable
