as for the temp sensor maybe its wiring or maybe you should check your coolant...for the lighting problem its probably a bad ground...if your dizzy is loose this can also cause the tach to jump around

yeah the lights thing sounds like a bad ground. did you change your thermostat or your temp sensor? because if the thermostat is not opening, that is, most likely what is causing your car to overheat. and dont forget to bleed the air out of the coolent system when you finish, so as to prevent further overheating.

I would check the coolant... you most likely have air in the system and need to bleed it off. There is a 12mm bolt on the head where the top raidator hose gose to the head. It has a hole on top of it. this is your bleed screw for your coolant system. With the engine off, and cold, open the bolt and if coolant comes out of the hole then you're good and full. if not you are low on coolant. Add more coolant (about a 50/50 or 60/40 water to antifreeze ratio is best) if nothing comes out of the hole... easy enough.

I would also look at your wiring to the temp sensor. I could be shorting out making the gauge read hot.

As for the lights, I agree it's most likely a ground. or the plugs in the back of the cluster not all the way plugged in.
Good luck. Later

My car dosent overheat the temp gauge just goes up to hot . Also my check engine light came on with the tdc sensor , so after the car warms up my tack goes from 800 to like 2000 rpms

I would check your wiring to your sensor. It sounds like it must be shorting and giving you a faulty temp signal. You did replace the sensor right?
As for the TDC sensor I'm guessing that's the crank angle sensor, and that sensor is inside of your distributor. Those go bad on our old vics/crxs so you just have to replace the dizzy. It's too time consuming to rebuild the dizzy, unless you really want too. So just get another one and that should solve that ECU code and the tach problems you have.
