you say you have a D15B. is it turbo? if not, or you have minor mods (like bolt ons), then i suggest you just stick with conventional oil, don't waste the money IMO.

Its a Honda, let alone a SOHC and furthermore, it is stock. No need for synthetic oils or anything special.
For your second question, a 5W30 oil refers to having 5 weight oil COLD and 30W when WARM. Oil has a special property that makes it thicken when warmed up. The reason why you want oil to be thicker when warm is that if its too thin, it will be too "runny" and will not stay in the places it is meant to lubricate.

amsoil did some studies and thier oil came out on top beating all the other name brand oils as far as wear properties and boiling points etc.....
but i dont see the point, if you are looking for an upgrade id go with any synthetic oil.

I think that is your butt dyno talking. Just use any oil and check it and change it regularly.

you sure you werent just low on oil prior to the change which would prevent vtec from engaging ?

you can't feel VTEC. It just comes on and you still make power at higher RPM, the power curve does not have a "dent" in it...Maybe it did feel lag-ish from not enough oil and hence no VTEC

Have u seen dyno graphs when vtec engages. there is quite a sigificant jump if not tuned to optimize.

it does not matter if your car is stock or not, oil does matter, so does gasoline.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Please, do tell. Why does what brand of oil you use matter on a stock car? I am dieing to know.
