shift linkage

i was trying to put in new shift linkage on my hatch and im having a problem getting the pin that holds the shift linkage to the transmission out is there any easier way than using a punch and a hammer?

It's called a "bitch" pin for a reason. It's a PITA. Just gotta work it a lil more
