Take apart the dash and you'll see this white looking box - it should be just about where the center console would be. I've took apart my integra dash 4 times because I was leaking coolant into my driver side floormats but I took apart the heater core and found the tubing was BENT somehow, and I just bent it back into a circle. Voila ! Heater works and no more coolant leaks
...That had nothing to do with Civics sorry.

But yeah its a pain but thats the first place I'd check.

Doubtful.

Even if his thermostat was stuck open his heater would work fine after the car reached standard operating temperature - just not well at all on the long *** warmup .

@OP: I'm assuming blower motor is okay? If you turn it on like, "1" on the defoggers or the feet and then you put your hand on the vent, do you feel heat? Or is it not blowing strong? Or is it blowing ice cold? Or is it only blowing ice cold during warm up?

Please give us more info...?
