Carbon Fiber hood
I want to get a carbon fiber hood for my 1996 4-door, but I have a question first. Is it possible to use the hood safely without hoodpins? I have seen many cars without the pins, and I am wondering if that is safe? I am looking at the VIS OEM hood if that matters. Thanks
Saw it x483294824 times... you can use WITHOUT the pin.. as long as the CF hood won't shake when you are on the freeway and you feel safe without a SAFETY pin.

If ive said it once, Ive said it a thousand times...
If youre not going to use hood pins, you better remove the cotter pins on your balljoints - you wouldnt want to be a hypocrite...
If you dont use pins, youre an idiot....plain and simple.
I have pins on mine, and can still see the hood buffeting around at highway speeds... I wouldnt feel at all safe, without the pins.
Hell, even the manufacturers of most cf/fiberglass hoods say that hood pins are recommended (NOT hood locks)
Fact is, they fly up... If you dont believe me, search (which is what you shouldve done in the first place, since Im just saying the same thing over and over anyways) and you will see what happens to people when they dont use them.
If youre one who says "I think pins are ugly"...then youre even dumber.
They serve a function...and its a good one.

Watch out for Vtakkk!!! It'll make that hood fly right open. LOL
Ive ran carbon hoods with and without. Never had a problem without them, and i live were it is really windy alot, and when you go by semi's on the highway you can see your hood woble, but ive never had one fly open on me, and ive had some CHEAP carbon hoods that are paper thin.
