I want a carbon fiber hood but I hate hood pins. What carbon fiber hoods are good to use without hood pins?

Call me paranoid--I run pins on my Fiber Images hood. I'd probably even use them on a Benen even though it really doesn't need them.

$30 insurance for piece of mind.

Fiber Images. thats what i have and i dont use hood pins. i have also taken my car to 125mph and the hood didnt pop up. they are well engineered.

i havent heard bad things about benen either, but i dont believe they make a cf hood for a del sol so that is why i went fiber images.

i have a dg motorsport Carbon Fiber hood...well i did until it flew off on the highway....i didnt have hood pins...i have pics as well as u can see....but yea DG is goin to warranty my hood and send me a new one for free. i am "the only person that my hood has been defective and came apart" from dg motorsports that is what the director of DG told me and she said "you dont need hood pins it was just defective it wont happen again"...so yea....its up too you if u want em....

I've had two ViS hoods, one on my egg and one on my integ. Used both for at least 3 months, never used pins. The ViS hoods seem to be a little more "sturdy" compared to the fiber images and sunny styling. I don't know much about the Benen hoods, though they seem well made.

Using hood pins is a good idea though, $30 for pins or $350-550 for another hood and $200 to fix the windshield. Piece of mind can go a long way.

Fiber Images... Tested at 135+ MPH no pins, no budge.

Benen is great too.

both are a lil pricey, but you get what you pay for.

i seen it happen, some eclipse guy was running a carbon fiber hood w/o hoodpins and his hood flew up into his winshield when he was driving right in front of me!!!! The hood held up but his winshield got broken to pieces, needless to say he appeared the week after with a fixed winshield and HOODPINS, i wouldnt reccommend it

haha, the frustration must be killing you. Try http://www.visracing.com/

Just my .02, saw a Vis hood returned from a very unhappy customer at a local shop last week. I've seen some impressive hoods from them, don't get me wrong, but I fear they may be sub-contracting the work, and may not have the same quality for everyone. Fiber Images gets a from me for consistancy.
