Default Overcooling problem - no heat - bad gas milage

So my car has a hard time warming up. It stays on the cold side of the water temp gauge. It gets warm at idle but as soon as I get moving it would get cold again.

I've replaced the thermostat thinking that it was stuck open. It didn't solve the problem because when the thermostat opens, the car runs cold again.

any help?

Hmmmm... What are you using for coolant, radiator, and fans?

It sounds like your thermostat is stuck open. It's a common problem.

Are you using an OEM unit or something from a parts store? Did you double check the part number to see that you got the right model? There are slight differences.

Is the thermostat you just installed from Honda? The pepboys/autozone thermostats are junk. Ive personally bought one brand new from pepboys that was broken.

Go to honda and buy an oem thermostat with gasket, stay away from any aftermarket parts store thermostats

Mine doesn't get hot really either but I always thought it was because I took out my AC condenser and maybe the radiator got better airflow... but that could also be me not wanting to fix anything.

I know that the thermo is good because when the rad fan comes on, my fluid level goes down which means that coolant is flowing through the engine. The thing is when the thermostat opens, the engine runs cool again. This is all happening at idle.

I made sure there are no air bubbles in the system when I bleed the coolant. It's like -20 degrees here with windchill, but at least I should still get to operating temp.
