About to cahange Timing belt......Questions
Im about to hit 100K so Im going to change my timing belt. I know that it is best to go ahead and change your water pump to but i was wondering if there is a better where I should get my belt and pump? Can I get a "performance" belt and water pump? Should I go to auto zone and get the stuff? Or should I just go to acura/honda?
Thanks

Two schools of thought here. Some people are true factory only parts people. They believe factory parts are superior...so on. Now others believe that aftermarket parts (aka autozone, etc.) are just as good due to the fact the many factory parts are made right next to the aftermarket parts in plants around the world. The big difference however is the fit of these parts. The materials and all might be the same but factory parts are usually manufactured to higher tolerance specifications. I actually just replaced a timing belt and water pump on a GSR and was able to get factory parts online for about the same price as autozone parts.
Now I am not aware of any performance timing belts or water pumps. I know a company that makes a kit that elimates the water pump, replacing it with an external electric unit. Someone may correct me on this.
I would recommend just getting a factory timing belt and water pump through a honda/acura parts wholesale site.

you will want to stick to OEM parts. theres a reason for this... its OEM and the quality it alot better than aftermarket. there is a performance waterpump you can get.. but i wouldnt. i recommend changin everything out. waterpump, all belts, and your belt tensioner. save yourself the trouble of doing the labor all over again when something you DIDNT replace, finally goes out. it might cost you more in the long run.
i have a belt tensioner for sale. it usually runs $60. ill sell it for $40 shipped. its only been used for 400+ miles. my friend blew his motor on NOS after he replaced all those parts and hes gettin rid of em. i think hes sellin some belts for $2, but i would recommend just gettin new ones. instant message me if youre interested in buying the belt tensioner.
