Timing Belt Parts Necessary now
I just brought an H22a JDM engiI would like to change the timing belt and everything related to this process while the engine is out on the floor, but it will cost over $350 in parts.
What are the necessary parts that I can change now until the next schedule timing change? Also when ordering parts for this JDM H22a what car do I tell the parts dealer I have?
Timing Belt
Water pump etc…

wow! that sounds like more then the parts then I had priced out.
The auto-tensioner is this a hydrolic system? How reliable are they. How much does this auto-tensioner go for? does it come on my engine? What do I ask the dealer for when buying parts?

Well the oil pump and water pump are optional to replace. But just make sure they are working properly. The same goes for the seals. The auto-tensioner is a hydrolic system, the pretty much breaks down really easily. Ive changed mine twice in the past year. Honda now offers a "re-manufactured" timing belt/tensioner kit which is suppose to fix the tensioner problem. The kit goes for about $110 and it includes the timing belt and tensioner. Ive had no problems since. If you do a search you can find out how to do the manual tensioner conversion. This will basically replace the auto H22 tensioner with the manual H23. And it wil eliminate tensioner failure but will require you to manualy set tension and you have to be carefull not to over or under tighten the belt.

I see. I had an Audi TT with the Hydrolic Tensioner and it failed. I lost the engine because of it. I don't ever want to get a car that uses this technology it's cheap and unrealiable.
So is this a recall from honda? Will it come with both belts Balancer and Timing belt? and all I have to do is use my old tensioner with the conversion kit?

the honda kit only brings the timing belt and tensioner no bolts. everything else you have to buy separate. Its not a recal. And thats if your keeping the H22 tensioner. if your gonna do the H23 conversion do a search. Theres alot of parts you need from the H23 to bring over to the H22.
