Default Bad Bearing in Transmission......What Parts do I need to order?

I have a bad bearing in my Transmission that makes a high pitched noise that goes away when I depress the clutch. I'm pretty sure this is an internal bearing. Which bearing would do this. Also, if its internal, should I replace a bunch of other bearings while I'm in there. Car is a 97 w/ 103,000 miles and Transmission has no grinds. Just trying to figure out what I need to order

Here's the Mainshaft

Countershaft

I'll probably do a Rear main seal while in there as well. Just trying to figure out what parts I should order to freshen things up while I have the car apart

They're not that expensive, so if you can afford it, order them all since you'll already be in there.

Throw an 4.9 FD while you're in there too

Sounds like a throwout bearing...

Easy fix. 80 bucks or so I believe.

I would have thought about if I didn't owe the IRS this year. Sucks to jump a tax bracket....oh well, i guess we are making more money than we were last year.

Actually the throw out bearing makes that noise when you depress the clutch pedal, not when you let it go.

Thanks Marc! Thats exactly what I was looking for. I just want to fix it before Auto-x season because I'd rather fix it before it becomes catastrophic.

I had it backwards. My mistake. Thanks for the correction.

I'd definitely replace them all when you have apart. Nothing sux worse then to think you fixed it and then put it back in only to have the same problem.

The most common bearings that make noise are usually the #17 on the main, #13 & 14 on the coutershaft and the bearing in the case where the counter and mainshaft sit. On occasion the diff. bearing will make noise also. You can probably test it out by driving the car and pressing the cluth and if you hear a noise then its probably the diff bearings because you have disconnect the transmission while pressing the clutch and the only thing rotating now is the axles which are attached to the diff.

Forgot to mention that once u have everything apart you can spin the bearing by
hand and feel for roughness while you do it or it might just make noise.
Good luck on the project.
