I've got an autometer electric oil pressure guage. Do I keep my stock oil pressure sender and the guage sender or do I just replace it with the sensor thing the guage came with?
keep tthe stock one and remove it.....then get a 3 way 1/8 npt fitting from home depot or sumwhere....teflon tape em all ttogether.....get a 1" npt barb to screw into the block and reconnect everything.....
a better safe way to do tthhis is endyn's idea(whhich i use and feel comfortable about, due to 4 cyl vibration) is at http://www.theoldone.com under articles....
just to help ya out.....whhen u see itu will understand....
i foget what size mm socket it is.....maybe 19mm? somewheres around thhere....

Keep the stock one and remove it? Whats that supposed to mean? I've got both of them in there now and it seems to be working. 25psi at idle and around 65-70 when i'm driving around.
Well how do you think the ECU see's oil pressure?
I've had some oil problems as of late but plan on getting ride of them once and for all.
Going to run braided hose from the oil feed at the back of the block to an air manifold on my strut tower or firewall. From there I can send another braided line to the turbo and have several holes left in the manifold for my oil pressure gauge and oil pressure sender.
Then if there are any problems, chances are you won't have ot get under the car to try and fiddle with the darm T's on the back of the block. Doing it this way I don't anticipate any future leaks.

y cant you hook the gauge up to the stock sensor? and dont use teflon tape it will leak
For the record, I had my 'dummy light' sender removed for a good year with no problems. This was before and after going FI. I was under the impression that all that is, is an 'you're out of oil' reminder, not a functional gauge.
I had both hooked up, but then removed the oem one. I then removed the autometer and worked fine without any gauge.
Does vtec need oil pressure to activate, yes. Does it read it from that sender? no.
The sender on the electric gauge is different.

did not know that (about the vtec), so how does it know when you are low?
