Default CEL insufficient flow from EGR valve , Replaced EGR , CEL came back on Help!!

Just like the topic says I had a check engine light for insufficient flow from the egr valve bought a new one for 278 from a honda dealer. Had my mechanic put it on and 2 days later my light comes back on. i went back to the honda dealership upon inspection they said i need my ports cleaned for 700 dollars???!!!! is there any other way around this. Is this the only way to fix a flow issue with the egr valve. It has perfect flow and no vacuum leaks. They said i had carbon build up that i need drilled out any suggestions would really help

thanks

were you able to fix your problem because I have the same codes and problem... I am about to test my EGR today with a vacuum pump. I'm curious if there is a workaround for the port cleaning, and if the only solution is take it to a dealer for a $700 repair. Anyways, good luck with the fix and PLEASE post your solution. I'll repost if i find a fix

Is this on a obd1 car? Egr is junk , cap it and run a obd 1 p28 ecu and never worry about a cel from the egr unit again.

Found a forum topic which has a link to a .pdf file which explains how to drill EGR ports. I am going to try and find all the necessary tools then attempt the procedure hopefully this upcoming week. Let me know if u try it...

I've had the same code on for awhile now we cleaned out the EGR and reset the code. Come back on 5miles later and just haven't had time to take off the intake manifold and clean out those ports. The last couple of days I have noticed that when I go accelerate in mainly 1st or 2nd gear my car like hesitates before it goes. Almost as if it isn't getting enough fuel. Could this be from the same EGR code.
