CEL on & off HELP!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 95 LS and my CEL keeps coming on and off and my car bogs out but only when its cold once it warms up it runs fine and my CEL only goes if im on long trips and not when being driven in the city, it goes off as soon as you shut the car off and wont go back on for a couple of days, please help.
well that would be the only explanation for the delayed cel... I had the same issue in a prelude si I replaced the egr and no more check engine light
edit: My bad also called the purge valve in the later model cars

the only way to truely know why it is on is to check the codes...

drive it until it comes on (i always carry a small piece of wire in center console), when the light comes on, pull over and check it before shutting the car off.
self obd1 test:
under the glove box above kick pannel are two connectors in a little rubber thing that holds them there, pull the one with 2 wires out, take a small paperclip, or wire and connect the wire to the two pin slots (this will jump it) turn the ignition to 2 spot so all accessories are on, youre cel will begin blinking. a long blink is 10 a short blink is 1.
example: two long blinks, one short = 10+10+1= 21.
EDIT: you can do this while engine is running, without cutting the car off

tryied the paper clip thing but nothing happened and now my cars CEL hasnt come back on and it no longer bogs out or anything. Is this good or bad, is it possible for the problem to correct itself or should i be expecting something worse than just my engine boggin out?
