you can use the bottom layer of the oem gasket, it works very well i have done several. i believe that is what spoon was selling as their thin gasket.

They're pretty much the same thing. Most will tell you hondata and spoon headgaskets etc. are merely OEM ones with a layer removed.

Generally how much does that raise compression because i believe i read that most "high compression" gaskets raise it about .2 or so. Correct me if im wrong.

that's what i'd like to know. and wouldn't removing a layer reduce durability, increasing the tendency to warp nd such.

better not buy a spoon gasket than.

theres nothing wrong w/ a single layer headgasket. why dont you people try these things for yourselves and then come back on here and let everyone know how it worked?

people have been using a single layer of the factory gasket since 20+ years ago, its nothing new. it does work and your head will not be any hotter weather using a 30 tou or a 10 thou gasket.

try it for yourself sometime and learn something.

for every .030" take off = 1 point in compression of the h22 heads.

its not that linear bud. do the math. the first .03" you take off might be 1 point. The next time its gonna be more.

Which layer do you use and typically how much will that take off ? How thick is each layer ?
