GSR or Si brake conversion
Anybody here ever swapped GSR or Si brake caliper and rotors onto an EG civic hatch? If so then is that all the parts needed? Will the Civic Si 99-00 brake cylinder and resevoir fit EG civic's?
I've been asking what all i would need and no one seems to want to help.
I have a 93 si hb, it already has rear disks but the calipers are froze. Honda and just about anywhere else want like $150 for a rebuilt rear caliper. This is the reason i though i would just swap out to gsr/si rear brakes. Since it already had disks wouldn't the processes be very easy? I should be able to use my stock e-brake cable and every thing should just bolt up? All i need is a list of what i need, i know someone has to have knowlege on this. But i've asked in every forum on here and have gotten one helpful responce.

I also have an Si and one of my calipers froze on me the other day , I work at a salvage yard so i run out and pull all the rear disc stuff off a 95 gs-r and compare them to mine. whats the verdict ?
SAME **** - same size rotor , same caliper numbers , same everything
I used the right rear gs-r caliper with my e-brake cable and brake pads and everything is the same
just do GS-R front brakes , some GOOD pads and stainless lines with the 94-up integra RS ( non-abs ) master cylinder and after a full fluid flush and bleed you will have all the brakes you ever need
I track my car on the reg and have never had ANY brake fade or boil issues
if you have any other Q's hit me on a PM or e-mail
hope that helps - Jamie
so you're saying the gsr rear caliper is the same one on my 93 si? Are you sure? If that's the case the all i need are 2 rear gsr calipers and the will bolt on to my si hub and work with my rotors? I kinda find that hard to believe but i guess i can't really argue with since i havn't compared them myself. Can someone else confirm this or car to comment on it.

Ok i looked up the part numbers and i can use the rear calipers off a 94-95 gs-r, rs, or ls the part numbers are the same for those years. As for the 96 up the part number changes.
I'm guessing if i want to swap with a 99 gsr i'll need the trailing and everything that attaches to the hub right? Will i still be able to use my stock brake lines or will i need the lines off the gsr?

ok , well i'm going to check the casting numbers on the 99-up Si's calipers and 96-up teg calipers , maybe thats why they were the same
i'll let you know
i measured and compared myself gs-r 94-95 same as my 93 Si ones

I did this swap last weekend on my '92 civic CX.
I replace the rear trailing arm off of '95 Integra. Trailing arms are all the same between non-type R Integras. When I compared the new trailing arm off my Civic and Integra, only difference is the spindle, cause my Civic had drum brakes.
The parts I put on are:
-Integra trailing arms(non-Type Rs are all the same)
-Inegra clipers(again, non-type Rs are all the same)
-rotors
-brake pads
-parking brake cabe from an Integra
As far as boosters and such, I put Type R booster and reservoir off of '98 Type R.
Also I put the "4040" proportioning valve. I had to re route 2 pipes but I didn't had to flare them. It's pretty much bolt-on. My finger tips were sore for days after though, 'cause it's kind hard to start threading those nuts. You'll understand what I'm talking about.
As far as fitting Si ones, I don't see why not.
For the calipers, I bought them off of a junk yard. If I was to do this again, I'd buy a rebuilt ones. They don't cost a whole lot, and in far superior shape. That's what I'm going to do for the front brakes, when I upgrade them to Type R size.

Umm $150 for a rebuilt caliper is alot to me i need two that's $300 for two stock rebuilt rear calipers. The calipers are not all the same, if you don't believe me go check part numbers.
